Finally have the drums all recorded

Went back down to Chris Fisher’s studio in Coxsackie on Sunday, this time to track drums with John Brodeur for the last two songs for this album.  I always enjoyed John’s songwriting and singing with his various bands (The Suggestions, Maggie Mayday, Hector On Stilts, Five Alpha Beatdown, etc.), but then I found out he plays drums too, and quite well at that!  Somehow with his playing in about 900 bands, he was up for…

Four More Drum Tracks!

This is quite exciting.  I’ve now got all but two songs’ drum tracks recorded for the new album.  I went back down to Easter Island Studios in Coxsackie, NY (what a great town name!) on Sunday.  Rick Little (the drummer for Split 2nd Alibi) played on “Drive Me”, “Status Quo”, and “Without You”.  Chris Fisher (from Conehead Buddha and Brian Kaplan Band) pulled double duty, both engineering the session and also playing drums on “Sometimes”. …

First drum tracks done!

For those keeping track (i.e. me), I’ve now rehearsed with four drummers for my new CD.  The newest addition is the multi-talented Melanie Krahmer from Sirsy.  She’s helping me out with drums on the song “Florida”.  You might recall that as one of the tracks on my second acoustic demo CD “Wrote Myself“.  Now I’m finally going to give that song its proper dues. Things are progressing, slowly.

I suppose now that I’ve rehearsed with 3 of the drummers who will be playing on my upcoming solo album/side project, I can start talking about it in more definite terms.
